Dyversion Dance Team hosts annual dance show in Williams Center
Dyversion Dance team hosts its second annual “Dope Dance Takeover” Friday in the Williams Center.

Dope Dance Takeover is an event that features many performances over the different styles of dance.

The performance featured 4 sets. Lit, precision, sexy and diversity.
Each set represents a quality that Dyversion consists of and what makes them stand out from other dance groups.

This year the team wanted to dedicate their event as a celebration of the organizations 21st birthday.

They brought in Visage and Dimes, two fashion organizations here on campus, as intermission acts to even further juice up the event.
Lead choreographer, Larry Sheppard was excited to celebrate this special event.

“Dyversion turned 21 this year, that’s why it’s called The Gold Edition because we’re 21, it’s amazing. We trace our organization back 21 years, so we lit,” Sheppard said.
The team has been bringing entertainment to Georgia Southern University campus since ’96 when it was first founded.
Porsha Jackson who is a student and fellow member of Dyversion gave us some insight on its founding.
“Dyversion was founded back in 1996 by three founders, one of which being Michael night,” Jackson said.
Dyversion worked hard every day leading up to the event, just to make sure things ran smoothly and that the event was a success.
Dean Taylor, one of the hosts of the show, was more than excited to help and was overjoyed to get a front row seat of the event.
“it is easy to host a lit show, those guys go so hard before the show it just makes it easy to host for them because they’re lit,
so the crowd is already going and then you get to be right them and tell the crowd who’s up next,” Taylor said.
The event was a success and Dyversion will continue this in the coming years.
